Welcome to Shaun Luttin's public notebook. It contains rough, practical notes. The guiding idea is that, despite what marketing tells us, there are no experts at anything. Sharing our half-baked ideas helps everyone. We're all just muddling thru. Find out more about our work at bigfont.ca.

Register a Domain Name as an Organization

Tags: dns, namespro

Here is a response from Namespro.ca:

… even when creating a non-individual registrant profile (e.g. Corporation, Organization, Education Institute), an individual administrative contact (and an individual technical contact) representing the party must be provided.

To confirm, please refer to WHOIS records for domains such as rcmp.ca:

So here are the steps:

  1. Create a new Namespro account: https://www.namespro.ca/NewAccount.asp
    1. Use a first and last name.
    2. Use a generic, permanent email address (e.g. [email protected])
  2. Login after creating the account.
  3. Choose “useful tools” on the left menu.
  4. Click “start now” under “Create new registrant.” <-- This is where we register an organization.
  5. Choose your registrant type. I find it helpful to choose from the full list.
  6. Agree to the terms and you’re golden Smile.

When registering an organization, choose from the entire list of registration types:
